He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. He served as a veterinary clinical pathology faculty member in the Department of Comparative Pathobiology at Purdue for 40 years. From 1977 to1979, he served as an experimental pathologist at the Lovelace Inhalation Toxicology Research Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to his faculty status while at Purdue, Dr. Rebar was head of the Department of Veterinary Pathobiology (1993-1996), associate dean for\u202fresearch (1989-1996), dean (1996-2005) and senior associate vice president for research and executive director of Discovery Park (2005-2015). From 2015 to 2018, he was the vice chancellor for research and\u202finnovation at North Carolina State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Rebar\u2019s professional activities have included president of the American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology, editor of \u201cVeterinary Clinical Pathology\u201d and Councilor for the American College of Veterinary Pathology. He is currently the editor-in-chief of the \u201cJournal of the American Animal Hospital Association.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Rebar has authored or co-authored 11 books and monographs, 23 textbook chapters and more than 100 scientific articles in diagnostic cytology, hematology, clinical\u202fbiochemistry\u202fand inhalation toxicology. He is an internationally recognized expert in veterinary clinical pathology and has presented more than 270 invited lectures nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has received many awards and recognitions from multiple agencies, and in 2015, Dr. Rebar received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society for Veterinary Clinical Pathology. He was a faculty member at Purdue for 21 years and as a full professor, he directed the teaching hospital clinical pathology laboratory and was the primary clinical pathology educator for veterinary students, interns, and residents. He has been an invited speaker at&nbsp;more than&nbsp;500 national and international education symposia and has authored or co-authored over 150 refereed manuscripts, textbook&nbsp;chapters,&nbsp;monographs&nbsp;and textbooks. During his tenure at Purdue, he received multiple teaching and service&nbsp;awards,&nbsp;and&nbsp;received&nbsp;the Distinguished Alumnus award.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2002, he joined IDEXX as Chief Veterinary Educator, where he supported both IDEXX education and research and development activities. At the 2017 ASVCP\/ACVP meeting, he received the ASVCP Lifetime Achievement Award in Veterinary Clinical Pathology.
