{"id":6262,"date":"2024-04-23T16:20:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-23T16:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/?post_type=purduetoday&#038;p=6262"},"modified":"2024-08-03T11:13:07","modified_gmt":"2024-08-03T15:13:07","slug":"purdue-workshop-series-to-highlight-hydroponics-and-greenhouse-crop-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2024\/Q2\/purdue-workshop-series-to-highlight-hydroponics-and-greenhouse-crop-production","title":{"rendered":"Purdue workshop series to highlight hydroponics and greenhouse crop production"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.<\/strong> \u2014 Home and commercial growers are invited to join the Purdue University Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/hla\/sites\/hla-happenings\/article\/hydroponics-for-everyone-workshop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hydroponics for Everyone<\/a>\u00a0workshop series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting in May, the series is led by Krishna Nemali, associate professor of horticulture and the controlled environment agriculture Extension specialist. \u201cThis workshop series will be useful for home and commercial growers, high school students, teachers and Purdue Extension Master Gardeners to learn about managing nutrients, substrates and growing crops organically in hydroponic production,\u201d said Nemali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The series is open to the public and will be held at the state-of-the-art Purdue hydroponics facility at 625 Agriculture Mall Drive in West Lafayette, Indiana, with free parking available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There will be one workshop in May and one in June. Each session will occur on four Saturdays&nbsp;from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>May\u00a04<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>May 11<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>May 18<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>May 25<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>June 8<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>June 15<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>June 22<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>June 29\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The workshops will feature a crash course on hydroponic production with extensive hands-on experience. Interested participants should only register for one of these sessions, as they will offer the same material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lunch will be included, and attendees will receive printed materials on hydroponic production. Attendees will also be able to take plants and seedlings home.
