{"id":6260,"date":"2022-11-28T16:20:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-28T16:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/?p=6260"},"modified":"2024-07-19T16:24:58","modified_gmt":"2024-07-19T16:24:58","slug":"purdue-accenture-sign-five-year-agreement-in-support-of-smart-manufacturing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/Q4\/purdue-accenture-sign-five-year-agreement-in-support-of-smart-manufacturing","title":{"rendered":"Purdue, Accenture sign five-year agreement in support of smart manufacturing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"purdue-initial-words-wrap\"><p class=\"purdue-initial-words\">WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. &mdash;<\/p> \n<p>Purdue University and Accenture (NYSE: ACN) have agreed to a five-year commitment supporting Purdue\u2019s mission to prepare a next-generation smart-manufacturing workforce.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Accenture has committed to provide funding in support of two strategic areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Accenture Smart Factory<\/strong>, which<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>will meet the needs of a growing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/engineering.purdue.edu\/Engr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">College of Engineering<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/polytechnic.purdue.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue Polytechnic Institute<\/a>\u00a0student population. Located in Dudley Hall, the facility will provide instructional laboratories, design studios and spaces where students from various disciplines will collaborate on smart-manufacturing projects.\u00a0The Smart Factory will also serve as a central hub for joint innovation among Purdue, Accenture and industry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Accenture Smart Manufacturing Scholars Program<\/strong>, which will provide funds for select qualified students to receive the equivalent of in-state tuition every year for up to four years. The program will include a Women in Manufacturing scholarship designed to\u00a0attract more women to manufacturing fields and drive inclusion and diversity in the industry.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith the Accenture Smart Factory and the Accenture Manufacturing Scholars Program, we can prepare more students for exciting future careers in smart manufacturing,\u201d said Daniel Castro, dean of the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, through which Purdue offers an undergraduate major in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/polytechnic.purdue.edu\/degrees\/smart-manufacturing-industrial-informatics\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">smart manufacturing industrial informatics<\/a>. \u201cAt the same time, this venture allows Purdue to meet the needs of our partners in industry who are desperately seeking career-ready graduates with the skills we will teach in this new facility.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Smart manufacturing uses digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, the cloud, robotics and 5G to build products.
