While his career didn&#8217;t quite take that path, it revealed his passion for serving others in the realm of health care. Miller\u2019s journey spans four decades, encompassing ambulances, hospitals, helicopters, authorship and even the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a chief nurse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy career has been a blend of adrenaline and compassion,\u201d Miller said. \u201cFrom prehospital care to aeromedical evacuation, every moment has been about being there for people when they need it most.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full full-width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/new.www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/miller-pgfathersday1LO.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5699\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/miller-pgfathersday1LO.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/miller-pgfathersday1LO-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/miller-pgfathersday1LO-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>U.S. Air Force veteran Eric Miller and his four grown children are living life to the fullest. (Photo provided)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Miller\u2019s dedication to learning led him to pursue a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdueglobal.edu\/degree-programs\/nursing\/psychiatric-nurse-practitioner-postgraduate-certificate\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner<\/a>&nbsp;(PMHNP) certificate, a testament to his belief that learning never stops. \u201cWhen you stop learning, you stop living,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the decades of knowledge he has already attained, Miller wanted to practice what he preached, so he looked for opportunities to keep learning \u2014 a decision that led him to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/purdueglobal.edu\/\">Purdue Global<\/a>. Choosing Purdue Global for his studies was a natural fit for this Hoosier at heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPurdue\u2019s reputation for excellence ensures that even in an online setting, the education is top notch,\u201d Miller said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Miller knows firsthand that life isn\u2019t just about work and study. At the same time, he said it\u2019s not as simple as just finding balance in his life. \u201cBalance is a misnomer,\u201d Miller laughed. \u201cIt\u2019s about keeping forward momentum in line with your values and cherishing rewarding relationships.\u201d<br><br>Family has always been at the core of Miller\u2019s life. With four children, he beams with pride, especially for his daughter, who followed in his health care footsteps as a respiratory therapist and EMT. The bond with his children deepened when adversity struck more than two decades ago, as his second son battled a malignant brain tumor. (Photo provided)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For Miller, with all of the experience he has gained throughout his journey, Father\u2019s Day isn&#8217;t just a celebration \u2014 it\u2019s a legacy. \u201cIt\u2019s a reminder of what truly matters,\u201d he said. \u201cMy greatest joy is seeing my children grow into compassionate, resilient adults, carrying forward our family\u2019s values.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Miller is also an author and has written five books. His latest two literary projects are a children&#8217;s book series about a character, Cyrano de Bergecat, who helps children solve problems by writing them letters. The Cyrano series is written under his pen name, Eric Malsbury. Miller, who is adopted, found his birth family whose surname is Malsbury. All books are available on Amazon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWriting helps me express myself creatively, while continuing my passion to help others in their journey find inspiration and endurance through all of life\u2019s adversities,\u201d Miller said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As he looks to the future, Miller\u2019s message is clear. \u201cLive a life you can be proud of.
