{"id":5091,"date":"2022-09-12T14:38:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T14:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/?p=5091"},"modified":"2024-07-11T14:41:10","modified_gmt":"2024-07-11T14:41:10","slug":"purdue-global-school-of-nursing-staff-discuss-simulation-scenario-quality-at-inacsl-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/Q3\/purdue-global-school-of-nursing-staff-discuss-simulation-scenario-quality-at-inacsl-conference","title":{"rendered":"Purdue Global School of Nursing staff discuss &#8216;simulation scenario quality&#8217; at INACSL Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"purdue-initial-words-wrap\"><p class=\"purdue-initial-words\">WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. &mdash;<\/p> \n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdueglobal.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue Global<\/a>\u00a0made quite a splash at the International Nursing Association of Clinical and Simulation Learning (INACSL) Conference in Milwaukee earlier this summer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Jessica Manning and Leigh Dunning, immersive learning coordinators for the Purdue Global&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdueglobal.edu\/degree-programs\/nursing\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">School of Nursing<\/a>, presented a session titled \u201cUsing an Innovative, Peer-Review Process to Validate Simulation Scenario Quality\u201d to some 250 interested participants, and it drew rave reviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Purdue Global School of Nursing is highly committed to innovation with simulation and virtual reality,\u201d said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdueglobal.edu\/about\/leadership-board\/melissa-burdi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Melissa Burdi<\/a>, Purdue Global vice president and dean of the School of Nursing. \u201cWe are proud of our immersive learning experts, who are leading the way in simulation design thinking and sharing their expertise with others in nursing higher education.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/new.www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/manning-dunningLO.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5092\" style=\"width:300px\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/manning-dunningLO.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/manning-dunningLO-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Jessica Manning and Leigh Dunning<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Manning and Dunning explained how to implement a peer review process for simulation scenarios to ensure that those simulation scenarios are of high quality and reflective of best practices with minimal costs associated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their presentation also covered the importance of simulation scenarios not being created in a silo by one person. In scenario creation, simulationists might not be content experts, and content experts might not be simulation experts.
