{"id":5087,"date":"2022-09-14T14:29:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-14T14:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/?p=5087"},"modified":"2024-08-19T16:19:02","modified_gmt":"2024-08-19T20:19:02","slug":"purdue-global-school-of-nursing-donates-surplus-supplies-to-des-moines-area-community-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/Q3\/purdue-global-school-of-nursing-donates-surplus-supplies-to-des-moines-area-community-college","title":{"rendered":"Purdue Global School of Nursing donates surplus supplies to Des Moines Area Community College"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"purdue-initial-words-wrap\"><p class=\"purdue-initial-words wp-block-paragraph\">WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. &mdash;<\/p> \n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdueglobal.edu\/degree-programs\/nursing\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Purdue Global School of Nursing<\/a>&nbsp;has donated surplus medical and nursing supplies from its former campus facility in Des Moines, Iowa, to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmacc.edu\/Pages\/welcome.aspx\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Des Moines Area Community College<\/a>&nbsp;(DMACC).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Andrea Hughes, who oversees the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner program for Purdue Global, worked to find a suitable recipient of the equipment. Among the items donated were manikins, catheterization kits, sutures, forceps, needles, tubes, vials, gloves and pads.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/new.www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/mcnamara-hadleyLO.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5088\" style=\"width:300px\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/mcnamara-hadleyLO.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/mcnamara-hadleyLO-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Purdue Global faculty member Dee McNamara and Steve Hadley from DMACC.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are proud to collaborate with our nursing colleagues at Des Moines Area Community College to support their efforts as they prepare and educate nursing students,\u201d said&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdueglobal.edu\/about\/leadership-board\/melissa-burdi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Melissa Burdi<\/a>, Purdue Global vice president and dean of the School of Nursing. \u201cTogether, we are supporting nursing education and building the much-needed nursing pipeline.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to John Hadley, DMACC professor and surgical&nbsp;technology program chair, the donated items will help several of the school\u2019s health and sciences departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe DMACC simulation center, emergency medical services, surgical technology program and nursing program all greatly appreciate the donation and will benefit from the generosity provided by the Purdue Global School of Nursing,\u201d Hadley said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Purdue Global has strong ties to the Des Moines area and the state of Iowa, highlighted by simulation partnerships with Dallas County Hospital\u00a0in Perry, Iowa, and UnityPoint Health-Jones Regional Medical Center\u00a0in Anamosa, Iowa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About Purdue Global<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Purdue Global delivers personalized online education tailored to the unique needs of adults who have work or life experience beyond the classroom, enabling them to develop essential academic and professional skills with the support and flexibility they need to achieve their career goals.
