Abbott assumes this role as current Director Jason Henderson leaves to become the vice president of Extension and outreach programs at Iowa State University.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"347\" src=\"https:\/\/new.www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/abbott-a23LO.jpg\" alt=\"Angela Abbott\" class=\"wp-image-4812\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/abbott-a23LO.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/abbott-a23LO-259x300.jpg 259w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Angela Abbott<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Abbot joined Purdue Extension and HHS in 1999. She was promoted to associate director in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ken Foster, interim dean of the College of Agriculture, praised Abbott\u2019s credentials and commitment to Purdue Extension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDr. Abbott is an accomplished and experienced leader. She and her colleagues have made a significant impact on the health and wellness of Hoosiers,\u201d Foster said. \u201cShe has also led Purdue Extension with Dr. Henderson during the past eight years and is ideally suited to assume the responsibilities of interim director.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abbott earned her bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees from Ball State University and her doctorate in educational leadership from Creighton University. She is a registered dietitian nutritionist. Before joining Purdue Extension, she worked for the American Dairy Association and in several health care settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am honored to serve in this interim position. Every day in every county in our state, Purdue Extension professionals are making a difference in the lives and future of our fellow citizens.
