Make plans to attend the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/2024-ohio-river-valley-woodlands-wildlife-workshop-registration-717311647447\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2024 Ohio River Valley Woodlands and Wildlife Workshop<\/a>&nbsp;March 23 and learn best practices directly from extension specialists from Purdue University, Ohio State University and the University of Kentucky.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event, set to take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.in.gov\/dnr\/state-parks\/inns\/clifty-inn-at-clifty-falls-state-park\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Clifty Inn<\/a>&nbsp;at Clifty Falls State Park (1650 Clifty Hollow Road, Madison, Indiana), will offer educational sessions such as managing invasive plants, managing woodlands for birds, the use of prescribed fire and more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe workshop is an excellent opportunity to learn many aspects of managing the wildlife, forest and aquatic resources on your property,\u201d Purdue Extension wildlife specialist&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ag.purdue.edu\/department\/fnr\/directory.html#\/macgowan\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brian MacGowan<\/a>&nbsp;said. \u201cAttendees will also be able to meet other woodland owners and share ideas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sessions will begin at 9 a.m. with concurrent talks on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Learning About Growing Christmas Trees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tree Identification<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deer Impact Toolbox<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At 10 a.m. attendees will choose from sessions on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Managing Woodland Invasive Plants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forest Soils 101<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capturing Clear Images Using Simple Techniques<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At 11 a.m., attendees can learn about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Intro to Honeybees and Beekeeping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>White Oak Initiative<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forestry for the Birds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a buffet lunch, which is included in the registration fee, two more educational sessions will be offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At 1 p.m., attendees can select from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Spotted Lanternfly: Where Is It Now?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prescribed Fire and Oak Management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Eastern Hellbender<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At 2 p.m., sessions include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rain Gardens: Planting Our Way to Water Quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ohio Maple Toolbox<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Owls of the Tristate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Register for the workshop&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/2024orvww.eventbrite.com\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">online<\/a>. Early registration is available through March 4 at the rate of $47 per person.
