Daniels, Jr. School of Business, David Malpass, Distinguished Fellow of International Finance, met with faculty, students, university leadership, and members of the community and media for wide-ranging discussions on the developing world, currencies, the debt crisis and more.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malpass is also the Inaugural Fellow of Global Business and Infrastructure at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/dc\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Purdue@DC<\/a>. He brings to both roles his experiences as president of the World Bank Group from April 2019 to June 2023; his public service, ranging from deputy assistant secretary of the treasury and deputy assistant secretary of state to undersecretary of the treasury for international affairs; and his years as a leading economist on Wall Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Purdue in mid-January, Malpass gave a public talk on debt and development as part of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/business.purdue.edu\/centers\/purce\/home.php\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Purdue University Research Center in Economics<\/a>\u2019 monthly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/releases\/2024\/Q1\/malpass-first-campus-engagement-an-incredible-experience.html#\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">economic<\/a>&nbsp;policy luncheon series; served as the school\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/business.purdue.edu\/events\/exec-forum\/home.php\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Executive Forum<\/a>&nbsp;speaker; met with&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/business.purdue.edu\/centers\/larsen-leaders-academy\/home.php\">Larsen Leaders Academy<\/a>&nbsp;students and the Purdue Investment Banking Academy; and moderated an ECON 370 class discussion on U.S. trade deficits.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/business.purdue.edu\/news\/features\/2024\/malpass-first-campus-engagement.php\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read more about Malpass\u2019 campus visit on the Daniels School of Business website.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Media are encouraged &nbsp;to share, post and publish this content.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. &mdash; In his first working visit to Purdue University since joining the Mitchell E.
