{"id":24259,"date":"2026-10-13T09:50:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-13T13:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/?p=24259"},"modified":"2026-10-13T11:45:38","modified_gmt":"2026-10-13T15:45:38","slug":"purdue-no-12-among-u-s-public-universities-in-2027-global-times-higher-education-rankings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2026\/Q4\/purdue-no-12-among-u-s-public-universities-in-2027-global-times-higher-education-rankings","title":{"rendered":"Purdue No. 12 among U.S. public universities in 2027 global Times Higher Education rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. \u2014 Purdue University climbed one spot to No. 12 among all U.S. public institutions in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.com\/world-university-rankings\/purdue-university-west-lafayette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2027 Times Higher Education World University Rankings<\/a>, which noted gains in Purdue\u2019s research environment and research quality as well as continued strength in industry engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, Purdue also rose two spots to No. 30 among all major universities in the U.S. \u2014 the only university in Indiana in the top 100 \u2014 based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.com\/world-university-rankings\/latest\/world-ranking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">overall Times Higher Education rankings<\/a> released Sept. 30. Purdue continued to score highly for research excellence and quality, which notes publications among the top 10% most cited. It also performed well in research influence, which weighs the importance of the papers that cite Purdue researchers\u2019 work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Purdue\u2019s research enterprise has grown for years, with annual expenditures <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/Q4\/purdue-surpasses-1b-in-total-research-expenditures-for-the-first-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eclipsing $1 billion for the first time ever<\/a> in fiscal year 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Times Higher Education used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.com\/world-university-rankings\/methodology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">17 indicators<\/a>, measuring a university\u2019s performance across areas such as teaching reputation; student-staff ratio; patents; industry engagement; and research environment, influence and quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About Purdue University<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Purdue University is a research institution ranked among the top 10 public universities in the United States.
