Hockema Chair in Business<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Martin Dufwenberg as Distinguished Professor of Economics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yuehwern Yih as the Tompkins Distinguished Professor in Industrial Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26dineen-brian.jpg\" alt=\"Brian Dineen\" class=\"wp-image-22693\" style=\"width:200px\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26dineen-brian.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26dineen-brian-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Brian Dineen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dineen came to Purdue in 2013 as an associate professor of management, later rising to department head for Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. His research focuses on issues related to recruitment, job search and employee retention. More specifically, he investigates factors that influence the quality of initial applicant pools in organizations, including recruitment message orientation and mass customization, as well as job seeker search strategies. He also studies employee retention issues that include human resource management inducements and investments and third-party employment branding. Dineen\u2019s research has been published in outlets such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Human Resource Management Journal, Research in Personnel and Human Resources Management, and the Journal of Management. He currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology and Human Resource Management Review. His honors and awards include a Mitch Daniels School of Business Bravo Award, Purdue Faculty Scholar Award and more. The Frederick and Alice Leeds Professor of Management was established in 1990 by the estate of Alice Cole Leeds. This fund provides for an endowed professorship in the Mitch Daniels School of Business. Frederick Leeds was a 1912 pharmacy alumnus.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26hummels-david.jpg\" alt=\"David Hummels\" class=\"wp-image-22695\" style=\"width:200px\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26hummels-david.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26hummels-david-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">David Hummels<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hummels came to Purdue in 2000 as an assistant professor, advancing to the rank of Distinguished Professor of Economics. He previously served as the Dr. Samuel R. Allen Dean of the Mitch Daniels School of Business. Hummels\u2019 research focuses on a range of issues in international trade, including offshoring and its impact on labor markets; product differentiation; barriers to trade; and the broader impacts of aviation, infrastructure and trade facilitation on trade and economic development. Most recently, his work has centered on labor market issues, including executive compensation, the intersection between worker health and labor markets, and the economics of higher education. Hummels has served on several editorial boards, including currently on the Journal of Global Economic Analysis and Maritime Economics &amp; Logistics. He has also published four books and many research articles in major economic journals, including the American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of International Economics, and Journal of Economic Perspectives. Hummels is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and he has worked as a consultant for and visiting scholar at a wide variety of central banks, development banks and policy institutes around the world. Hummels\u2019 honors and awards include an Outstanding Innovation in Graduate Teaching recognition and an Excellence in Executive MBA Teaching honor from Purdue, several grants, and other recognitions. The Marshall and Susan Larsen Chair was established in 2026 by Marshall Larsen, a 1977 Master of Science in industrial administration graduate, and his wife, Susan. This endowment was created for an internationally recognized economist with a preference for research focused on international trade.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26zhu-ting.jpg\" alt=\"Ting Zhu\" class=\"wp-image-22692\" style=\"width:200px\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26zhu-ting.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26zhu-ting-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ting Zhu<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zhu joined the faculty at Purdue in 2016 as an associate professor of marketing. She currently serves as the department head of Marketing in the Mitch Daniels School of Business and the Jack A. Hockema Term Chair in Business. Her teaching experience and interests lie in new product management, marketing analytics, consumer behavior, customer relationship management and pricing. Her publications and research interests focus on entry models, consumer choices, retail competition, pricing, new technology adoption, and health and sustainability in marketing. Zhu serves on the editorial boards of Marketing Science and Quantitative Marketing and Economics, regularly reviews for top marketing journals, and serves as an external evaluator for more than 10 tenure and promotion cases at leading research universities. Her work has been recognized with several honors and awards, including Faculty Fellow of the American Marketing Association-Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium, Faculty Fellow of the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science Doctoral Consortium, a Purdue Faculty Impact Award, the Dick Wittink Prize for best paper, the Marketing Science Service Award and more. The Jack A. Hockema Chair in Business was established in 2018 by a contribution from the Mr. and Mrs. Jack A. Hockema Fund based on a recommendation from Jack A. Hockema and Kay Hockema as part of the Purdue Academic Excellence Match program. The recipient of this endowment is to provide leadership in discovery, learning and engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26dufwenberg-martin.jpg\" alt=\"Martin Dufwenberg\" class=\"wp-image-22694\" style=\"width:200px\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26dufwenberg-martin.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26dufwenberg-martin-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Martin Dufwenberg<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dufwenberg joined the faculty at Purdue in 2025 as a professor of economics. His research uses game theory and experiments to incorporate insights from psychology into economic analysis. Much of his work develops and applies a formal framework called psychological game theory, which is useful for modeling emotions, reciprocity, social norms and image concerns. His publications have appeared in many scientific outlets, including Econometrica, American Economic Review, Neuron, The Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economic Theory, Games and Economic Behavior, and more. Dufwenberg currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the Economic Science Association and Experimental Economics. His honors and awards include being named an Economic Theory Fellow as well as receiving an honorary doctorate at the University of Gothenburg, the Erik Malmsten Visiting Professorship Award, the Royal Economic Society Prize and more.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26yih-yuehwern.jpg\" alt=\"Yuehwern Yih\" class=\"wp-image-22689\" style=\"width:200px\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26yih-yuehwern.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/26yih-yuehwern-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Yuehwern Yih<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yih has served on the faculty at Purdue since 1989 and is currently the Tompkins Professor in the Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering. Her research focuses on the fields of health and humanitarian supply chains and smart production systems. Yih is director of the Smart Operations and Systems Laboratory, former director of U.S. Agency for International Development LASER PULSE (Long-term Assistance and Services for Research Partners for University-Led Solutions Engine), and previous associate director of the Regenstrief Center for Healthcare Engineering at Discovery Park District at Purdue. She is an Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) fellow; an Executive Leadership in Academic Technology, Engineering and Science fellow; and an International Academy of Artificial Intelligence Sciences fellow. Yih\u2019s other honors and awards include her election to the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Inventors, the IISE David F. Baker Distinguished Research Award, the Chinese Institute of Engineers-USA Distinguished Achievement Award, the National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award, the Dell K. Allen Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Purdue\u2019s inaugural Faculty Engagement Fellow Award and Outstanding Leadership in Globalization Award, the College of Engineering\u2019s Most Impactful Faculty Inventors recognition, and the Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering\u2019s Pritsker Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award (seven-time honoree). She has over 200 scholarly publications, one patent and two copyrights. Her humanitarian supply chain system implemented in South Sudan and Ukraine has reached over 1 million people as of today. The Tompkins Professorship in the Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering was established in 2009 by James A. Tompkins, a Purdue alumnus and supply chain expert, and his wife, Sharon, to support exceptional faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trustees also ratified the previously announced selections of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2026\/Q2\/raman-confirmed-as-u-s-undersecretary-of-commerce-for-standards-and-technology-lundstrom-appointed-dean-of-engineering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mark Lundstrom as the John A. Edwardson Dean of the College of Engineering<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2026\/Q2\/distinguished-professor-phillip-vanfossen-named-suzi-and-dale-gallagher-dean-of-education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Phillip VanFossen as the Suzi and Dale Gallagher Dean of Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, trustees ratified the appointment of Tommy McClelland, Purdue\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/purduesports.com\/news\/2026\/08\/6\/mcclelland-introduced-as-new-athletics-director-at-purdue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new vice president and director of Intercollegiate Athletics<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other action, trustees approved resolutions of appreciation for friends of the university who recently contributed $1 million or more to Purdue.
