{"id":22038,"date":"2026-06-05T07:24:33","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T11:24:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/?p=22038"},"modified":"2026-06-05T13:11:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T17:11:18","slug":"trustees-approve-2027-budget-maintaining-frozen-base-tuition-for-main-campus-further-strategic-investments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2026\/Q2\/trustees-approve-2027-budget-maintaining-frozen-base-tuition-for-main-campus-further-strategic-investments","title":{"rendered":"Trustees approve 2027 budget, maintaining frozen base tuition for main campus, further strategic investments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. \u2014 Highlighted by the previously approved tuition freeze and further strategic investments \u2014 while operating within a structurally balanced framework \u2014 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue University<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/bot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Board of Trustees<\/a> on Friday (June 5) adopted the university\u2019s operating budget for fiscal year 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tuition and mandatory fees will remain frozen for all undergraduate students at Purdue\u2019s main campus (West Lafayette and Indianapolis) for the 14th consecutive year, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/Q2\/trustees-approve-2026-budget-frozen-base-tuition-for-main-campus-and-no-increase-for-indiana-residents-at-purdue-northwest-and-purdue-fort-wayne-for-2025-26-2026-27\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">approved in June 2025<\/a> \u2014 in particular keeping base undergraduate tuition and fees for Indiana residents under $10,000 per year. Tuition and mandatory fees for Indiana residents at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pfw.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue Fort Wayne<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnw.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue Northwest<\/a> will also be frozen for 2026-27. Rates for out-of-state and international students at the regional campuses will increase by 3%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Systemwide revenues are budgeted at $3.379 billion \u2014 a 0.9% increase compared with fiscal year 2026. The university will continue investing in initiatives that deliver meaningful benefits to students and the state of Indiana, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/onehealth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">One Health<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/computes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue Computes<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/business.purdue.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mitch Daniels School of Business<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/indianapolis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue University in Indianapolis<\/a> program development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instructional capacity and support growth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student experience: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housing.purdue.edu\/my-housing\/options\/residence-halls\/south-hall.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">South Hall<\/a> opening<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Moveable Dream Hires program<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employee compensation: 2% merit increase for main campus employees and employer coverage of medical and prescription benefit cost increases<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, revenues are expected to exceed the operating expenditure, with the difference used to support capital projects that are considered outside the operating budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trustees endorsed the following total operating expenditures for fiscal year 2027:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Main campus: $2.969 billion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Purdue Fort Wayne: $168 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Purdue Northwest: $160 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About Purdue University<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Purdue University is a public research university leading with excellence at scale.
