{"id":21743,"date":"2026-05-15T14:31:46","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T18:31:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/?p=21743"},"modified":"2026-05-15T15:02:37","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T19:02:37","slug":"inaugural-cohort-chosen-for-bachelors-to-doctorate-in-7-years-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2026\/Q2\/inaugural-cohort-chosen-for-bachelors-to-doctorate-in-7-years-program","title":{"rendered":"Inaugural cohort chosen for Bachelor&#8217;s to Doctorate in 7 Years program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. \u2014 Purdue University\u2019s College of Engineering has selected the inaugural cohort of students for its new Bachelor\u2019s to Doctorate in 7 Years (B2D7) program \u2014 an accelerated, milestone-driven pathway designed to prepare exceptional undergraduates for advanced research careers and leadership in industry and national laboratories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initial cohort represents a diverse group of Purdue engineering students across multiple disciplines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ekaterina Cox, industrial engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clara Goffioul, chemical engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gary Huang, aeronautical and astronautical engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cole Klinedinst, materials engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>David Rubin, aeronautical and astronautical engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By integrating undergraduate and graduate education, the program accelerates the development of research skills while providing structured mentoring, individualized advising, and strong connections to industry and national laboratory partners, enabling highly motivated students to progress seamlessly from a bachelor\u2019s degree to a PhD in approximately seven years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00a0\u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2026\/Q1\/purdue-pilots-b2d7-bachelors-to-doctorate-in-7-years-to-enhance-u-s-research-talent-pipeline\/?TSPD_101_R0=08993c5290ab2000fadf910584065b65d20d183a6eabd7e1f9a5cb345dfc43e7217539c44d4a40a708b5946ca314480041a7d3b1c31047cffcd297c2a12ea88b9bec17201939fd3c9cdf58a7d61ec4e3d2b636b3ad93022ca6a1ba58cdcc3d8803a9132f1338cbd412f17c7cf6c5eaeac63b99e0e9c7d760\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">B2D7 program<\/a> excites me because it offers the opportunity to work alongside faculty who inspired my research interests in sustainability and transportation systems, while continuing the mentorships and traditions that have made Purdue feel like home,\u201d said Cox, B2D7 participant.
