It also aims to help students move beyond being consumers to being creators while preparing them for an AI-driven future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs the daughter of two lifelong educators, I\u2019ve seen firsthand the impact teachers have on shaping what students believe is possible,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/marcom.purdue.edu\/about\/our-team\/kelly-hiller\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/marcom.purdue.edu\/about\/our-team\/kelly-hiller\/\">Kelly Hiller<\/a>, Purdue University\u2019s chief marketing officer. \u201cUsing the LEGO Education Computer Science &amp; AI solution, we\u2019re equipping educators with tools to bring AI and STEM to life in the classroom. As Indiana\u2019s land-grant university, Purdue is committed to ensuring students across our state are prepared not just to use technology but to shape it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt LEGO Education, we believe hands-on learning is essential for sparking engagement and developing skills like problem-solving and collaboration,\u201d said Alexander Mitchell, vice president, US, LEGO Education. \u201cBy empowering educators with the right tools, initiatives like this not only bring hands-on experiences to more classrooms, but also introduce Computer Science and AI concepts in a way that is accessible and engaging for students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The one-day workshop, titled \u201cBrick by Brick: Bringing AI to the Classroom\u201d will be held July 23 at Purdue\u2019s West Lafayette location. Led by faculty and staff from Purdue\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/science\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">College of Science<\/a> and LEGO Education facilitators, the workshop will explore practical applications of artificial intelligence, coding and robotics through classroom-ready lessons designed to spark curiosity and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program is open to Indiana STEM educators serving grades 6-8. Participation will be limited to 60 attendees, and registration is required at <a href=\"https:\/\/purdue.edu\/campaigns\/LEGO-event\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">go.purdue.edu\/LEGO-event<\/a>. Each educator will be provided with LEGO Education materials for use in their classrooms, fostering readiness to implement the day\u2019s learning immediately. The materials serve as a tangible link between theory and practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen educators engage students in computer science and AI early, they help students see themselves as problem-solvers and creators,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/science\/about\/meet-the-dean.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lucy Flesch<\/a>, the Frederick L. Hovde Dean of the College of Science. \u201cBy connecting these concepts to curiosity and real-world impact, we teach critical thinking, which can open doors to possibilities that young learners may not have imagined for themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Purdue and LEGO Education are responding to the demands of the evolving technology landscape by equipping educators with the tools to build foundational computer science and AI literacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative further reinforces Purdue\u2019s national leadership in STEM while advancing the university\u2019s broad <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI@Purdue<\/a> strategy and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/computes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Purdue Computes<\/strong><\/a> initiative, which spans research and programs in physical AI, computing, semiconductors and quantum science. It also builds upon recent efforts to prepare students for an AI-driven future, including the university\u2019s first-of-its-kind \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/Q4\/purdue-unveils-comprehensive-ai-strategy-trustees-approve-ai-working-competency-graduation-requirement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AI working competency<\/a>\u201d graduation requirement for undergraduate students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of a broader portfolio of initiatives led by Purdue Brand Studio, Purdue has participated in and reached new audiences through other key industry opportunities to support STEM education, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/Q2\/purdue-university-and-hello-sunshine-partner-on-new-platform-to-inspire-the-next-generation-of-bold-curious-young-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hello Sunshine\u2019s Sunnie<\/a> and the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/marcom.purdue.edu\/our-work\/in-our-stem-era-makerspace-event\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">In Our STEM Era<\/a>\u201d immersive experience with e.l.f.
