The institute will be based at the university\u2019s Indianapolis location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The gift directly supports three strategic priorities \u2014 the <a href=\"https:\/\/business.purdue.edu\/home.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daniels School<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/onehealth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">One Health<\/a> and Purdue\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/campuses\/indianapolis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expansion in Indianapolis<\/a> \u2014 while also contributing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cVictories &amp; Heroes: Your Campaign for Purdue\u201d<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dayofgiving.purdue.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue Day of Giving<\/a>, the university\u2019s annual online fundraising effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis transformative gift from the Ricks Family Foundation expands our Daniels School opportunities, bolsters the Indianapolis location and advances the One Health initiative,\u201d Purdue President Mung Chiang said. \u201cWe thank the Ricks Family Foundation; by investing across multiple strategic initiatives through the focus area of healthcare systems innovation, this generous and visionary gift will shape the university\u2019s future in deeply impactful ways.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anchored in the Daniels School\u2019s economic and strategic expertise \u2014 and supported by targeted collaborations with the colleges of Engineering and Pharmacy \u2014 the institute will allow the university to lead at the crossroads of healthcare economics and delivery. It will also serve as a hub for analyzing how care pathways, drugs, devices and procedures are priced, reimbursed and adopted, with a focus on cost-benefit analysis, consumer choice and strategic policy design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Locating the center in Indianapolis \u2014 home to major hospital systems, insurers and medical technology firms \u2014 will ensure that the institute\u2019s research is embedded where industry, policy and practice converge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe generosity and foresight of the Ricks Family Foundation will have an enduring impact on Purdue, the Daniels School and the nation,\u201d said James \u201cJim\u201d Bullard, the Dr. Samuel R. Allen Dean of the Daniels School of Business. \u201cConsidering the healthcare situation in the U.S. today, there is a clear need for rigorous, market-informed research that challenges conventional thinking and drives new solutions. This institute will allow Purdue to lead that work and make a lasting difference.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Formation of the institute will begin with the appointment of key leaders such as executive director, program manager and industry director. Additional steps will follow to establish operations and ensure long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis foundational commitment strengthens the vital role our university plays in reimagining healthcare and improving patient outcomes,\u201d said Eric Barker, Purdue\u2019s vice president for health affairs and the Jeannie and Jim Chaney Dean of Pharmacy. \u201cThe institute will become a centerpiece of our One Health initiative as we intensify our efforts to tackle healthcare challenges head-on through research.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, support from the Ricks Family Foundation helped the Riley Children\u2019s Foundation establish the Heartland Children\u2019s Nutrition Collaborative, a research partnership between Purdue\u2019s Department of Food Science and IU School of Medicine\u2019s Department of Pediatrics.
