{"id":19871,"date":"2026-02-17T07:16:45","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T12:16:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/?p=19871"},"modified":"2026-02-19T11:19:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T16:19:12","slug":"amd-ceo-and-global-tech-leader-lisa-su-to-headline-upcoming-presidential-lecture-on-what-will-power-ai-era","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2026\/Q1\/amd-ceo-and-global-tech-leader-lisa-su-to-headline-upcoming-presidential-lecture-on-what-will-power-ai-era","title":{"rendered":"AMD CEO and global tech leader Lisa Su to headline upcoming Presidential Lecture on what will power AI era"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. \u2014 Influential global technology leader Lisa Su, the visionary chief executive officer and chair of semiconductor company AMD, will join Purdue University President Mung Chiang in early March for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/president\/lecture-series\/\">Presidential Lecture Series<\/a> event focusing on the role high-performance computing plays in our world and how deep partnerships between industry and universities can advance innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event, titled \u201cStrategic Circuits: How University and Industry Partnerships Will Power the AI Era,\u201d is at 5 p.m. Monday, March 2, in Stewart Center\u2019s Loeb Playhouse. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but a ticket is required. For tickets and more information, go <a href=\"https:\/\/am.ticketmaster.com\/purdue\/buy\/ism\/UExTMDMwMkw=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>. The venue was changed to Loeb from Fowler Hall because of strong interest. She is an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) fellow, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Time magazine named Dr. Su its <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7200909\/ceo-of-the-year-2024-lisa-su\/\">2024 CEO of the Year<\/a>, and she has received the Global Semiconductor Alliance\u2019s Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award and the Semiconductor Industry Association\u2019s Robert N. Noyce Award. Dr. Su serves as chair of the board of directors of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.semiconductors.org\/\">Semiconductor Industry Association<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to Advanced Micro Devices Inc., known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amd.com\/\">AMD<\/a>, Dr. Su served as senior vice president and general manager of networking and multimedia at Freescale and spent 13 years at IBM in engineering and business leadership positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Presidential Lecture Series<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a><\/a>Launched in 2014 by then-Purdue President Mitch Daniels and continued by President Mung Chiang, the Presidential Lecture Series exposes Purdue students and the broader community to inspiring ideas, courageous leadership, and models of civic engagement and civil discourse.
