A protein-based adhesive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These were among the&nbsp;172&nbsp;innovations created by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue University<\/a> researchers for which the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/prf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Purdue Research Foundation<\/a>&nbsp;(PRF) received patents in the 2025&nbsp;calendar year from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, reflecting Purdue\u2019s status as a global leader in protecting and promoting intellectual property.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Purdue placed seventh nationally&nbsp;and 12th internationally&nbsp;for&nbsp;patents received.&nbsp;The&nbsp;information was published&nbsp;Thursday&nbsp;(Feb. 12) in a <a href=\"https:\/\/academyofinventors.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/2025-Top-100-Worldwide-List.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> from the National Academy of Inventors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPurdue and its robust innovation ecosystem continue to pursue excellence at the highest scale, reflected in our ranking as a top 10 university for U.S. patents received for six years in a row,\u201d Purdue President Mung Chiang said. \u201cPurdue Innovates accelerates support for Boilermaker inventors as they translate breakthrough research into real\u2011world impact, with outstanding support from the Office of Technology Commercialization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Purdue Innovates Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) offers services that support the economic development initiatives of Purdue University and benefit the university\u2019s academic activities through commercializing, licensing and protecting Purdue intellectual property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThrough Purdue Innovates, PRF is committed to ensuring that the university\u2019s innovators, whether faculty, staff or students, have the support they need to bring their ideas from the lab to the marketplace,\u201d said Chad Pittman, president and CEO of&nbsp;PRF. \u201cBy helping transform breakthrough research into innovative products and startups, we advance Purdue\u2019s mission while strengthening economic growth and improving quality of life in Indiana and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brooke Beier, senior vice president of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/purdueinnovates.org\/\"><strong>Purdue Innovates<\/strong><\/a>, said, \u201cPurdue\u2019s continued leadership in issued U.S. patents is a testament to the strength of our innovation ecosystem.
