{"id":1967,"date":"2022-02-04T15:25:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-04T15:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/?p=1967"},"modified":"2024-06-07T15:28:54","modified_gmt":"2024-06-07T15:28:54","slug":"purdue-trustees-approve-presidents-performance-metrics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/Q1\/purdue-trustees-approve-presidents-performance-metrics","title":{"rendered":"Purdue trustees approve president\u2019s performance metrics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. \u2014 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Purdue University<\/a>\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/bot\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Board of Trustees<\/a>&nbsp;on Friday (Feb. 4) voted to approve the new metrics on which President Mitch Daniels\u2019 performance will be measured for the 2021-22 fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goals and metrics, reviewed and revised each year by trustees, seek to define and measure progress in the university\u2019s priority areas of affordability, student success and operational and institutional excellence, according to Malcolm DeKryger, chair of the board\u2019s Compensation Committee, which recommended the metrics for board approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe continue to raise the bar on our expectations, and thanks to the dedication of the entire Purdue community, we have seen growth and improvement across the board over the past nearly 10 years,\u201d DeKryger said. \u201cAs we keep accessibility, quality, affordability and value at the forefront of our work here, we\u2019ve added additional student success measures for this year reflecting goals set out by our Equity Task Force.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to overall graduation rates and number of degrees awarded, student success measures for 2021-22 include increased yield and retention\/graduation rates for Black students at the West Lafayette campus, aligning with goals of the Equity Task Force, one of <a href=\"http:\/\/purdue.edu\/newsroom\/releases\/2021\/Q2\/purdue-launches-next-moves-initiatives.html\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Purdue\u2019s Next Moves<\/a> approved by trustees in spring 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other new measures for 2021-22 fall under operations and include operational and financial improvement at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdueglobal.edu\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Purdue University Global<\/a>, and the establishment of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/research\/pari\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Purdue Applied Research Institute<\/a>, also one of Purdue\u2019s Next Moves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Daniels\u2019 contract, when approved in December 2012, was, at Daniels\u2019 request, a departure from more traditional pay structures for university presidents. It put in place a system by which Daniels has a third of his salary set aside as \u201cat-risk\u201d funds, contingent on results in priority areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Metrics for the current fiscal year will continue to measure progress in the areas of student affordability (20%), student success (30%), fundraising (20%) and operations (30%).
