WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. \u2014 From student application to graduation, Purdue University is being recognized for its service to military-affiliated students through the state of Indiana\u2019s highest form of achievement, a Tier 1 Collegiate Purple Star of Indiana<\/a> award, in its inaugural year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Indiana Commission for Higher Education named Purdue\u2019s main campus a top-tier supportive environment for military-affiliated students, alongside Purdue University Fort Wayne and Purdue University Northwest. Purdue is the only four-year institution in Indiana to receive this distinction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis recognition follows our efforts to become the nation\u2019s premier research university in our support of defense and national security,\u201d said Purdue Provost Patrick Wolfe. \u201cIn over three dozen areas across our academic enterprise, the commission and the Department of Veterans Affairs noted the engaged work across our campuses to serve the students who serve our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue reached a 90% achievement level for the honor in 37 standards across eight categories, including admissions and enrollment, financial support, institutional support systems, student support services, student engagement, and career and community engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Veteran and Military Success Center at Purdue works to support military-affiliated students in a variety of ways \u2014 this distinction recognizes that,\u201d said Morgan Gamble, current director of the center. \u201cOur efforts through academic opportunities and student support are at the heart of the Collegiate Purple Star designation.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue Global, Purdue\u2019s online university for working adults, also received recognition as a Tier 3 institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
