Closing out a successful inaugural year, trustees endorse conceptual physical master plan for Purdue\u2019s long-term growth in Indianapolis<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Purdue University Board of Trustees on Friday (June 6) endorsed a comprehensive conceptual campus master plan for Indianapolis, detailing a blueprint designed to transform Purdue\u2019s urban expansion of its main campus that supports industry partnership, research and experiential learning eventually for up to 15,000 students. Coinciding with the first anniversary of the launch of Purdue University in Indianapolis, the master plan outlines the 50-year picture for Purdue\u2019s presence in the capital city, envisioning 16 new buildings on 28 acres with 4.5 million gross square feet to support up to 5,320 total university residence beds and an enrollment of 15,000 students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trustees approve 2026 budget, frozen base tuition for main campus and no increase for Indiana residents at Purdue Northwest and Purdue Fort Wayne for 2025-26, 2026-27<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With a focus on student affordability, structural operating surplus and strategic investments, Purdue University trustees on Friday (June 6) adopted the university\u2019s operating budget for fiscal year 2026, with revenues modestly exceeding expenditures despite the challenges of the macro conditions in higher education. Tuition and mandatory fees will remain frozen for all undergraduate students at Purdue\u2019s main campus (Indianapolis and West Lafayette) for the 13th and 14th consecutive years, in particular keeping base undergraduate tuition and fees for Indiana residents under $10,000 per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Program growth and industry partnerships highlight Purdue\u2019s first year in Indianapolis<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The growth of academic programs and the development of an impressive array of industry partnerships highlighted Purdue University\u2019s first year in Indianapolis. At the completion of the inaugural 2024-25 academic year, Purdue\u2019s expansion in the capital city is positioning the university as a catalyst for innovation and economic development in Indiana through strong educational foundations and the development of powerful partnerships with business leaders, while increasing its presence throughout Indianapolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AP Video – Improving heart surgery for dogs and humans<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Luis Dos Santos is an assistant professor of cardiology in Purdue University\u2019s College of Veterinary Medicine. His area of expertise is cardiac disease and arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats, in dogs. In this video, he explains how a recent successful cardiac procedure on a dog could help pave the way for better treatments in both dogs and humans with similar conditions. Santos and a talented team from across the country performed a successful cardiac ablation procedure on a dog at Purdue\u2019s Small Animal Hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue hosts national Quantum Summer School, advancing next-gen quantum leaders<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Purdue recently hosted the Quantum Summer School for the Department of Energy\u2019s Quantum Science Center (QSC), welcoming more than 100 graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral researchers and faculty from across the country. The weeklong program, led by the Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute on the West Lafayette campus, featured presentations from academic experts on the latest developments in theory, research and application, plus hands-on demonstrations and training from quantum industry insiders. It was the fifth annual QSC Quantum Summer School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
