Your time is now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hicks, of Wellington, Florida, knows this from her own experience. Her journey of overcoming obstacles resonates with many, as she made the bold decision to complete her comeback by enrolling and earning her degree at Purdue Global a few years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t be afraid to go big in what drives you,\u201d Hicks said. \u201cYou are unstoppable, you are capable, and most of all, you are more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/newsroom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/PGspeakerHicks_May25.jpg\" alt=\"Nicole Richardson Hicks in cap and gown giving commencement speech\" class=\"wp-image-15032\" title=\"\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Purdue Global alum and keynote speaker Nicole Richardson Hicks of Wellington, Florida, speaks during Purdue Global\u2019s May commencement ceremonies. (Purdue Global photo\/Kelsey Lefever)\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Hicks shared her encouraging message to the 2,654 graduates \u2014 1,830 in person and 824 participating in two virtual ceremonies, a record high for a Purdue Global commencement weekend. More than 12,000 guests, faculty and staff attended the in-person ceremonies at Purdue University\u2019s Elliott Hall of Music in West Lafayette.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interim chancellor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdueglobal.edu\/about\/leadership-board\/jon-harbor\/\">Jon Harbor<\/a> conferred the degrees. Graduates included 474 Indiana residents and represented all 50 states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. There were 406 graduates affiliated with the military. Also being celebrated were 63 systemwide Purdue University employees who earned a Purdue Global degree or certificate via the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdue.edu\/hr\/Benefits\/employeebenefits\/feeRemission\/pGlobal.php\">Purdue Global education benefit<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Teresa Hegwood of Portage, Michigan; Danielle Shields of Bellwood, Illinois; and Jeremy Meeker-Hackett of Windermere, Florida, performed the national anthem for the three in-person ceremonies. Hegwood earned her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdueglobal.edu\/degree-programs\/nursing\/online-doctor-of-nursing\/\">Doctor of Nursing Practice<\/a> \u2014 her third degree from Purdue Global. Shields, an active-duty member of the U.S. Army, earned her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.purdueglobal.edu\/degree-programs\/professional-studies\/bachelor-degree-professional-studies\/\">Bachelor of Science in professional studies<\/a>.
