Trustees endorse 14th consecutive tuition freeze while approving 2%+0.5% faculty and staff salary increase<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Purdue University Board of Trustees on April 4 endorsed President Mung Chiang\u2019s request for a 14th consecutive tuition freeze and approved his faculty and staff salary policy request for fiscal year 2026 for the main campus with a 2% recurring increase, plus a 0.5% nonrecurring recognition of exceptional employee contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enhanced commercial air service coming to Purdue University Airport with United Express flights<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a significant step forward in its commitment to support Purdue University\u2019s operational needs through improved travel options, the Board of Trustees on April 4 approved a two-year transportation services agreement with SkyWest Airlines for commercial air service. Under the agreement, SkyWest Airlines will maintain at least one daily nonstop United Express round-trip flight between West Lafayette\u2019s Purdue University Airport and Chicago\u2019s O\u2019Hare International Airport. The flights will be on board CRJ200 twin-engine jets, with capacity for 50 passengers per flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction moving forward on Ascension St. Vincent neighborhood medical care facility in Discovery Park District at Purdue<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ascension St. Vincent and Purdue University are moving forward with the construction of a neighborhood medical care facility in Discovery Park District at Purdue, adjacent to the university\u2019s West Lafayette location. The facility \u2014 which will be located at the intersection of Airport Road and U.S. Highway 231 \u2014 will bring a new, convenient provider to West Lafayette. Plans include space for advanced urgent care, imaging, labs and primary care physicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue graduate programs in engineering, business and health again rank among the nation\u2019s finest<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Purdue University continues to elevate its graduate learning and research efforts across multiple disciplines, placing 12 academic programs in the top 10 of the U.S. News & World Report\u2019s 2025 edition of its best graduate school rankings. Purdue\u2019s engineering college jumped one spot to No. 5 (tied with Caltech) in the U.S. News survey released Tuesday (April 8), with five engineering disciplines surging into the top five and 10 among the top 10 in the U.S. among more than 220 public and private engineering schools ranked. Purdue also is the leading engineering program in the 18-member Big Ten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AP video \u2014 Amid high food prices, many turn to home gardens<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Joe Balagtas is a professor of agricultural economics in the College of Agriculture and director of the Center for Food Demand Analysis and Sustainability at Purdue University. Purdue\u2019s March Consumer Food Insights Report focuses on the state of food prices and how American consumers are dealing with higher grocery bills. Balagtas says food inflation has grown slightly in the first two months of 2025. About 84% of consumers polled said they felt food prices were high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
