Purdue announces growing presence in India at event with Sen. Young and Ambassador Garcetti<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Purdue University is further strengthening its educational partnership with India through the announcement of its Center for Education and Engagement in the country, as well as a U.S.-India Center of Excellence in Semiconductors jointly with the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, with support from the governments of the U.S. and India. President Mung Chiang unveiled plans for the new Purdue-India centers during an on-campus visit by U.S. Sen. Todd Young and U.S. Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti on Nov. 1. Following their fireside chat, Chiang formally announced the centers by signing a declaration, with Young and Garcetti adding their signatures as witnesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Celebrate Purdue\u2019s leading researchers at the Seed for Success Acorn Awards ceremony Nov. 13<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday (Nov. 13), Purdue\u2019s Office of Research honored the accomplishments and innovative ideas of 275 researchers. The annual Seed for Success Acorn Awards recognized Purdue principal investigators (PIs) and co-PIs who secured research awards of $1 million or more for a single proposal in fiscal year 2024. The university has an overall sponsored program portfolio of $3.1 billion and manages thousands of research projects annually focused on creating innovative solutions that help to provide a safe and secure nation and livelihood for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environmental and Ecological Engineering\u2019s graduate program ranked No. 9, undergraduate program No. 12 nationally<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

U.S. News & World Report ranked Purdue\u2019s Division of Environmental and Ecological Engineering\u2019s graduate program No. 9 and its undergraduate program No. 12 among the best environmental engineering programs in the nation for 2024, an impressive accomplishment, Purdue officials say, considering how new the program is. In 2013, after seven years of growth and development, the ABET-accredited program at Purdue awarded its first 10 bachelor\u2019s degrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MaPSAC awards professional development grants to 21 employees<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Management and Professional Staff Advisory Committee has awarded individual professional development grants to 21 management and professional staff members for the fall application cycle. Grants up to $750 are awarded twice each year. MaPSAC presented a total of $13,639 to awardees through its fall 2024 grants. The volunteer subcommittee reviewed 40 eligible applications. The spring 2025 grant application period will open in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ICYMI: Purdue alum and pilot Capt. Sully Sullenberger of \u2018Miracle on the Hudson\u2019 fame highlights Purdue Presidential Lecture<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Capt. Sully Sullenberger, a Purdue University alumnus who heroically landed a commercial airliner on the Hudson River in 2009 after it lost power from a bird strike, saving all 155 passengers and crew, joined Purdue President Mung Chiang for a Presidential Lecture Series event on Nov. 4. Capt. Sullenberger\u2019s Purdue appearance, titled \u201cHow a Life\u2019s Commitment to Excellence Saved 155 People Aboard US Airways Flight 1549,\u201d took place in Elliott Hall of Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
