How humans might harness artificial intelligence, stabilize its growth, maximize the benefits and minimize the risks to truly leverage AI\u2019s potential is the focus of the inaugural Purdue\/Google AI Summit<\/a>, set to take place in Indianapolis on Nov. 14. With \u201cThe AI Imperative: Uniting Education, Business and Government,\u201d Purdue University and Google will bring together leading representatives from business and industry, government and nonprofits, as well as university researchers and students, to explore the evolving landscape of AI and its profound impact on workforce development and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue University leads research on autonomous transportation network<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a future where fully autonomous vehicles rule the road, cars and trucks will move to a split-second torrent of data shared by computers that are on board, nearby and in the cloud. In this dynamic web of communication, any failure in the network is a threat to passengers. To ensure that cyber-physical systems \u2014 like a fully automated transportation system \u2014 can withstand breakdowns, hacking and unanticipated situations, the National Science Foundation is funding a new center led by Purdue University to develop scientific mechanisms that enable resilience in the face of threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue University\u2019s Ray Ewry Sports Engineering Center to partner with Sports Tech HQ in Indianapolis<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Ray Ewry Sports Engineering Center<\/a> is accelerating its growth in Indianapolis thanks to a new partnership. Purdue University is teaming up with Sports Tech HQ in the center\u2019s new home<\/a> at the U.S. headquarters of Dallara, an internationally recognized motorsports manufacturer, in Speedway. Purdue and Sports Tech HQ plan to capitalize on the momentum of the sports technology sector, which continues to experience tremendous growth and investment worldwide, and are combining their efforts to attract industry leaders and collaborators to Indiana\u2019s capital city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lieutenant governor leads roundtable at Purdue on student mental health challenges<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As mental health issues continue to affect a significant number of college students across the nation, Purdue University on Wednesday (Oct. 30) hosted the Indiana Mental Health Roundtable, a discussion to bring attention to this pressing challenge and connect college students with the proper resources. Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, who co-chairs the roundtable, is a leading advocate for improving mental health services in the state. In those efforts, Crouch has shared her personal, family connection with the illness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue, e.l.f. Cosmetics announce \u2018STEM Era\u2019 collaboration<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Purdue University \u2014 collaborating with e.l.f. Cosmetics, trend-driven beauty for every eye, lip and face \u2014 hopes to strike the right chord with young music fans who might find harmony between an education and eventual career in a STEM-related field. As part of the wave of concert fever in Indianapolis, Purdue will host a free, fan-friendly makerspace called \u201cIn Our STEM Era\u201d at Circle Centre Mall on Saturday and Sunday. The collaboration is led by the university\u2019s internal marketing agency, Purdue Brand Studio<\/a>, and intends to foster excitement in science, technology, engineering and math among young women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
