Purdue University wins Microelectronics Commons Project to advance AI hardware through the Silicon Crossroads Microelectronics Commons Hub<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A Purdue University-led team has won a project through the Microelectronics Commons program to advance artificial intelligence hardware through the CHEETA initiative, which utilizes a CMOS+MRAM approach for efficient in-memory computing systems. This project brings together experts from academia, industry and national labs to transition more than a decade of pioneering research from the lab to fabrication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue, e.l.f. Cosmetics announce \u2018STEM Era\u2019 collaboration<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Purdue University \u2014 collaborating with e.l.f. Cosmetics, trend-driven beauty for every eye, lip and face \u2014 hopes to strike the right chord with young music fans who might find harmony between an education and eventual career in a STEM-related field. As part of the wave of concert fever in Indianapolis, Purdue will host a free, fan-friendly makerspace called \u201cIn Our STEM Era\u201d at Circle Centre Mall on Nov. 2-3. The collaboration is led by the university\u2019s internal marketing agency, Purdue Brand Studio<\/a>, and intends to foster excitement in science, technology, engineering and math among young women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Chiang inducted into American Academy of Arts and Sciences<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Purdue President Mung Chiang was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences on Sept. 21. Founded in 1780, the academy honors excellence and convenes leaders from every field of human endeavor to examine new ideas, address issues of importance to the nation and the world, and work together. Chiang, the Roscoe H. George Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was elected to the Class of Mathematical and Physical Sciences in the area of Engineering and Technology. There are currently 11 Purdue-affiliated members in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor appoints Dave Ricks to Purdue Board of Trustees<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb has appointed David A. Ricks, chair and CEO of Eli Lilly and Company, to the Purdue University Board of Trustees, effective Jan. 1, 2025, until July 1, 2027. Ricks, a Purdue alumnus with a distinguished career in the pharmaceutical industry, will fill the vacancy created by the pending retirement of board chair Michael Berghoff. Trustees have elected Gary Lehman and Mike Klipsch as chair and vice chair, respectively. Under Ricks\u2019 leadership, Lilly has achieved significant advancements in research and development, focusing on innovation and community support in health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purdue police welcome new officers and announce promotion with special ceremony<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Purdue University Police Department recently welcomed two new officers, Kevin Jones and Martin Schap, and promoted McKenzie Wagner to sergeant. Jones brings experience from the university\u2019s Department of Computer Science, while Schap previously worked as an officer with the Lafayette Police Department. Wagner, who has been recognized as the Crisis Intervention Officer of the Year, will supervise a patrol shift and contribute her expertise in crisis negotiation and training. Chief Lesley Wiete expressed confidence in the new hires and their diverse backgrounds, highlighting the department\u2019s commitment to enhancing campus safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
