Every small step led me to law school. Because of the support I have at Purdue, I’m ready.

Law school-accepted senior Jessie Keppler isn’t worried about her next steps. And she credits the rigor and the resources at Purdue.

“There are so many experiences I’ve had here that make me more competitive in the marketplace,” she says.

Internships played a major role. “In the summers, I interned at the Bar Association of San Francisco,” she says. And that might have been enough to make her competitive, but with all the opportunities available, it made sense to keep going.

Jessie took an internship abroad — in the U.K. Parliament. “I was able to intern in the House of Commons for Lee Rowley, Member of Parliament. Being able to have such an intimate look into British politics and how their government was run was truly unmatchable. It brought life to the concepts I’d talked about in classes back in the United States.”

I received help every step of the way … The thorough and personalized assistance made me incredibly confident in my application by the time I sent it away to schools.

And when it was time to apply for law school, she says she was supported from all sides.

“Starting the application process was incredibly daunting, but I was very quickly able to find resources at Purdue that made the experience much less scary. A law school exploration class led me to Purdue’s pre-law advising, where I received help every step of the way,” she says. “Whether it was signing up for the LSAT or editing my personal statement for my application, I knew I could email my pre-law advisor for help whenever I needed it. The thorough and personalized assistance made me incredibly confident in my application by the time I sent it away to schools.”

And, this fall, she’s taking a giant leap. “During my time at Purdue, I learned to be incredibly comfortable presenting myself and representing my college,” she says. “These are skills that give me the confidence I need as I go through law school and start my career.”
