Meet Joshua Henderson

Name: Joshua Henderson

Hometown: Gary, Indiana

Year: Senior

Major: Social Studies Education

Minors: Political Science and History

My favorite part about Purdue: Finding community and being able to complete activist work and human rights work whether it be with the research I do or the clubs I participate in

Why you enjoy being a part of a campus cultural center: The Black Cultural Center (BCC) is a place that I can find companionship with other Black students and I can unapologetically be myself. We also research and perform art that speaks to the Black struggle and/or liberation. And I love the trips that we take and developing relationships with people I’m familiar with and even those I am not. I met my current girlfriend of two years through a BCC trip and she’s currently doing amazing work with the dance ensemble. I love the camaraderie that comes with being active in the BCC.
