February 25, 2011

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A technology that gives robotic machines the ability to "see" like humans and a social media program that allows people to use Facebook, Twitter and text messaging simultaneously were just two of several new technologies presented Friday (Feb. 25) at the 2011 Southwest Indiana Technology Showcase in Evansville.

The free program is held annually by Purdue University and Indiana University to present technologies that were developed through university research and have strong commercialization potential. The technologies presented at the event have been patented and are available for licensing by startups and established companies.

Attendees of the showcase were entrepreneurs, investors and financiers, business and community leaders and technology specialists.

Other presented technologies included an implantable microsensor to directly measure pleural pressure of the lungs that enables an evidence-based approach to removing patients from mechanical ventilations.

The event also included one-on-one entrepreneurial coaching for conference participants.

Event sponsors include the Purdue University Office of Engagement, Indiana University Office of Engagement, Purdue Research Foundation's Office of Technology Commercialization and Indiana University Research and Technology Corp.
