Appointments, honors and activities

  • Appointments and promotions:

 The College of Health and Human Sciences has announced that Catherine “Cammie” McBride will be associate dean for research, effective Aug. 15. In addition to that role, McBride will serve as professor of human development and family studies. She will succeed Kim Buhman, who has served as interim associate dean for research since July. Buhman will remain on faculty in the Department of Nutrition Science. McBride, an internationally known developmental psychologist, comes to Purdue from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), where she currently serves as the Choh-Ming Li Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology. Her research interests include early literacy and mathematics development across cultures; reading and writing development and impairment across cultures; event-related potential in relation to reading; and parenting for learning and psychosocial outcomes. Read more.

  • Faculty and staff honors:

Scott Lawrance, clinical professor of health and kinesiology and director of athletic training education, has received the 2022 Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association (GLATA) Golden Pinnacle Award. This award is the GLATA’s highest honor and recognizes those who have exhibited exemplary leadership in their service role, significantly advancing the mission and goals of GLATA and the athletic training profession. Lawrance was honored Thursday (March 10) during the GLATA Awards Ceremony.
