Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

-  Kevin Hintzman is the new executive director of the North Central Nursing Clinics, a federally qualified health center with four clinics located in Delphi, Monon, Burlington and Wolcott and affiliated with Purdue’s School of Nursing. Hintzman will take over for the retired Jim Layman, who served as executive director since 2009, and hopes to continue providing high-quality health care to rural populations while keeping expansion in mind. Hintzman’s appointment was effective Nov. 8.

-  Susan E. Swithers, professor of psychological sciences in Purdue’s College of Health and Human Sciences, has been appointed the college’s first associate dean for faculty affairs. In this role, Swithers will provide additional leadership in the areas of faculty hiring and faculty professional development. Her appointment became effective Nov. 1 and will be in place for two years with the possibility of reappointment.

-  Rhonda Phillips, Honors College dean, and Megha Anwer, assistant professor and director of diversity, equity and inclusion in the Honors College, have received the Jerome L. Neuner Award for Professional-Scholarly Publication by the American Association of University Administrators for their work, “Fostering an Anti-Racist and Inclusive Living-Learning Community,” a study on racism in higher education. The article appeared in a special publication of the Journal of Higher Education Management. All articles in this special edition reflected the effects that COVID-19 and racism have had on higher education.
