Appointments, honors and activities
Faculty and staff honors:
- The Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) has announced that Purdue professor Jianxin Ma is its 2021 Fellow Award recipient. The annual award recognizes outstanding contributions to crop science through education, national and international service and research. Ma, a professor in the Department of Agronomy and Center for Plant Biology, has received international recognition for his innovative research on plant comparative genomics and soybean genetics. He has authored 99 publications in high-impact journals including Science, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Genetics and Nature Plants, and delivered over 100 presentations. He is the primary inventor of three patents and patent applications. A complete release is available online.
- Michael B. Cline, Purdue’s senior vice president of administrative operations, and Sharron Moss-Higham, both Purdue University alumni, have received the Polaris Awards for Patriots of Purpose from Terre Haute North Vigo High School. This award, bestowed annually to Terre Haute North Vigo High School alumni, honors those who have brought distinction to the school through significant personal, professional and civic achievements. The award will be presented on Oct. 4. More information about the award and the recipients can be found here.
Notables:
- Robin P. Clair, professor of communication in the Brian Lamb School of Communication, has had her second and third novels published. “Blood into Water: A Case of Social Justice” and “Buried Together: A Story of Quarantine and a Question of Conscience” were both published by Brill in July.
