Appointments, honors and activities

• Appointments and promotions:

The Honors College is announcing the following leadership transitions and promotions:  Emily Allen, current associate dean for academic affairs, will serve as the inaugural director for the Blue Sky Teaching and Learning Laboratory, focusing on transformative education through scholarly pedagogy. Natasha Duncan, current associate dean for international education and affairs, will assume leadership of Academic Affairs at the end of the spring 2021 semester. The Honors College also announces the promotion of Rosanne Altstatt, assistant dean for the National and International Scholarships Office, to the position of associate dean. • Faculty and staff honors:

- Linda Renzulli, professor and head of sociology at Purdue, has been selected as a Big Ten Academic Alliance Academic Leadership Program fellow for the 2021-22 academic year. The alliance was established in 1989 to help exceptional faculty who are considering leadership positions “understand the university as dynamic and inclusive institutions and to help them build awareness of the diverse, complex, and changing landscape of higher education while exploring their role in that landscape.” Many program fellows have gone on to become college presidents, provosts, and deans.

• Rankings:

- Purdue University Global is ranked No. 1 in the Best Online Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Communications for 2021, according to Bachelor’s Degree Center. In announcing the ranking, Bachelor’s Degree Center notes: “Purdue University Global offers a B.S. in communication that is recognized among the most innovative online digital communications degree available in the marketplace. … Degree candidates interested in Purdue Global’s baccalaureate degree in communication are offered an accelerated option in which they can earn both a baccalaureate and master’s degree simultaneously, in less time, and at a reduced cost.”
