Appointments, honors and activities

  • Faculty and staff honors:

Aaron Bowman, professor and head of Purdue University’s School of Health Sciences, has been appointed to the U.S. Department of Labor’s advisory board on Toxic Substances and Worker Health for the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program. Bowman’s term is for two years. The School of Health Sciences is a part of the College of Health and Human Sciences

 

Ida Drury, Laura Schwab Reese, and Heather Allan are the recipients of the 2019 Article of the Year award by the Journal of Public Child Welfare. Schwab Reese is an assistant professor in Purdue University’s Department of Public Health; Drury and Allan are with the Kempe Center for Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The article, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help: How can public health perspectives improve outreach in child maltreatment prevention programs?”, was published in 2019. The Department of Public Health is a part of the College of Health and Human Sciences

 

Brett Savoie, an assistant professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, is one of eight recipients of the inaugural Dreyfus Program for Machine Learning in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Award. Savoie was selected to receive support for his proposal, “Transfer Learning for Deep Generative Chemical Models.” The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation announces eight award recipients of the inaugural program.
