Purdue Innovator Hall of Fame inducts 25 into program that recognizes outstanding scientists, researchers

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue Research Foundation Office of Technology Commercialization’s Innovators Hall of Fame announces the induction of 25 new members for the fifth edition of a program that annually recognizes scientists and researchers who have made a positive impact on global society through their research.

“There are so many outstanding Purdue researchers and innovators, and the selection process is always very difficult,” said Brooke Beier, vice president of Purdue Research Foundation’s Office of Technology Commercialization. “Purdue scientists and researchers are committed to innovation technologies and inventions that will provide an impact to help people around the world. The Innovator Hall of Fame program is one way we can recognize their hard work and dedication to help others through the commercialization and applications of their innovations.”

The program was created in 2013 and now has honored 137 Purdue innovators. The inductees include a Nobel Prize winner, two World Food Prize winners and many other distinguished scientists and researchers.

Research of the inductees includes drug discovery, energy, food security, space exploration, cybersecurity, health, Internet of Things, spectrometry, biomedical devices and industrial systems.

Criteria for induction into the Innovators Hall of Fame include:

• Filed patent(s) for innovation(s) through OTC.
• Discovered and developed a technology that is widely used to help the global society through licensing or partnering with a company.
• Founded or co-founded a successful company to commercialize an innovation.
• Been recognized by federal research support agencies as a national leader in research and development.
• Received local, state or federal funding to research and develop life-changing innovations.
