Appointments, honors and activities

Appointments and promotions:

- Justin Race has been named the director of the Purdue University Press. Race, who will begin his new role on Nov. 12, is currently the director of the University of Nevada Press. During his tenure there, he doubled the content output and grew sales by more than 30 percent in just over three years. Race began his career in publishing in acquisitions with the Lexington Books imprint, Rowman and Littlefield. More information can be found here.

Faculty and staff honors:

- Trevor Gallen, assistant professor of economics, was awarded the NTJ Richard Musgrave Prize for best article published in the National Tax Journal for his paper, “Wedges, Labor Market Behavior, and Health Insurance Coverage Under the Affordable Care Act.” More information is available online. Rankings:

- Purdue University has been included on The Princeton Review’s “208 Guide to 399 Green Colleges.” Purdue was selected to the list due to having a formal sustainability committee, a sustainability-focused degree option, employing a sustainability officer, providing alternative transportation opportunities, such as a bike and car sharing programs, and free or reduced fares for public transportation, among other initiatives. “It seems like every year Purdue is boiling up new sustainability initiatives,” the report said. “All campus programs have one thing in mind—minimizing the university’s impact on the environment. … Grassroots initiatives are also sprouting up thanks to a proactive student body.” More information can be found here.
