Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

-  John A. Morgan, a professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, has been appointed as editor in chief for Biotechnology Progress, the official publication of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and its technological community, the Society for Biological Engineering.  Morgan will officially begin his appointment on January 1. - Rajamani Gounder, an associate professor in the Davidson School of Chemical Engineering, has been named in the "2018 Class of Influential Researchers" by Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Research, a publication of the American Chemical Society. The global team of editors and editorial advisory board members identified this class of influential, early-career researchers on the basis of the quality and impact of their research. Alumni honors:

- Kris Thunhorst, who earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1993, has been awarded the American Institute of Chemical Engineers 2018 Industrial Research and Development Award for innovation that has resulted in the successful commercial development of new products and/or new processes for making useful products. - Timothy Bohrer, who earned a master’s degree in chemical engineering in 1973, will be inducted in the PMMI Packaging and Processing Hall of Fame at the PACK EXPO International in October. During his 45 years in packaging, Bohrer has been named inventor or co-inventor of 17 patents for microwave packaging technology, composite containers, barrier film, thermoforming and other technologies.
