Appointments, honors and activities

Faculty and staff honors:

- Marianne Boruch, recently named a professor emeritus in the Department of English, was awarded a fellowship at MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire to work on poems and essays during the month of May. The fellowships provide exceptional artists exclusive studio space and an inspiring environment in which to work. Boruch, who is finishing her fourth residence at the colony, is completing her 10th book of poetry and is thinking toward new poems. She has been a faculty member at Purdue for 31 years, establishing the university’s master of fine arts, master of arts and undergraduate programs in creative writing.  

Kimber J. Nicoletti-Martínez, Purdue University’s director of Multicultural Efforts to end Sexual Assault has been named National Social Worker of the Year.  The award, given by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) will be presented June 22 in Washington, D.C., during the organization’s national award ceremony. Nicoletti-Martínez is being recognized for her leadership in the field of social work in advocating for social justice for migrant farm workers and working to end child sexual abuse and sexual violence, according to the nomination application submitted by the NASW-Indiana Chapter. -Leonard Harris, a professor of philosophy, received the Herbert Schneider Award for lifetime achievement from the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy. The award recognizes a career-long achievement of distinguished contributions to the understanding of American philosophy, according to the organization’s website.

Rankings:

- Krannert School of Management has been ranked No. 40 globally this year in the América Economia’s ranking of Master of Business Administration programs. Krannert is ranked No. 19 among schools in the United States. The student-centered ranking is based on five dimensions: multicultural experience, networking power for Latin American students, selectivity, international positioning and focus on innovation.
