Addiction educator to speak at Purdue as part of Life Inspired

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Jennifer Ippolito, a registered nurse and addiction educator, will speak Wednesday (March 28) at Purdue University.

“Let’s Talk About Addiction: A Personal Journey Through Addiction and Recovery,” is at 7 p.m. in Purdue Memorial Union’s North Ballroom. The event, which is free and open to the public, is part of Life Inspired, the annual showcase for the College of Health and Human Sciences.

Ippolito has a personal history of addiction to drugs and alcohol, having been in recovery since 2008. Through public speaking, she shares her experience as a person in recovery, as a nurse with more than 10 years of emergency room experience and most recently as a nurse employed at an alcohol and drug treatment center in St. Louis, Missouri. Ippolito will discuss the progression of addiction and how to address one’s own addiction or that of a family member, friend or co-worker.

Life Inspired is the annual showcase of events for students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the College of Health and Human Sciences. More information is available online.

The college is home to the schools of Health Sciences; Hospitality and Tourism Management; and Nursing; and the departments of Consumer Science; Health and Kinesiology; Human Development and Family Studies; Nutrition Science; Psychological Sciences; and Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, as well as the Public Health Graduate Program and Health and Human Sciences Extension.
