Sports history prof can discuss 2016 Army-Navy game

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - One of the nation’s oldest football traditions plays out Saturday (Dec. 10) afternoon in Baltimore when the annual Army-Navy game kicks off for the 117th time. The history around the game’s stature is as important as the on-field result. Purdue University’s Randy Roberts, Distinguished Professor in History, wrote the book “A Team for America: The Army-Navy Game That Rallied a Nation at War.”

Roberts specializes in recent U.S. history, popular culture, and U.S. sports history. As a pop culture, sports and military expert, Roberts has written nearly 30 books, many about athletes, celebrities and historical figures. He has frequently provided historical perspective as a television commentator for the History Channel, ESPN Classic, HBO, BBC, PBS, and the major television networks.

Roberts is available for telephone and email interviews.
