Purdue expert to present workshops on farm law, taxes

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Extension will offer workshops on farmland lease law, farming liabilities, property rights, Indiana’s Right to Farm law, real estate transfer taxation, land trusts and conservation easements.

The workshops are designed for farmers, landowners, attorneys, accountants and insurance providers.

Sessions will be held in Tipton, Wayne, Wells, and Parke counties from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EST at the following locations:      

* Dec. 14 - Purdue Extension Office, Tipton County Fairgrounds, 1200 S. Main St., Tipton. For registration information go to http://bit.ly/2gQFBLG.

* Dec. 15 - Purdue Extension Office, Wayne County Fair & Expo Center, 861 Salisbury Road N, Richmond. Go to http://bit.ly/2fTHmFW.

* Dec. 16 - Purdue Extension Office, Wells County Community Center, 1240 4-H Park Road, Bluffton. Go to http://bit.ly/2g1hnQe.

Gerald Harrison, professor of agricultural economics and member of the Indiana State Bar Association, will be the presenter for all four sessions.

Registration is required by Dec. 14. Cost is $30 per person; $50 for couples; $75 for those applying for continuing education credits and $95 for those applying for credits toward a second professional continuing education certification. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
