Purdue-affiliated company expands impact for people with developmental disabilities

MERRILLVILLE, Ind.  – InterLink, a Purdue Research Park-based organization serving people and service providers in the human services industry, is expanding into Kentucky.

Headquartered at Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana in Merrillville, Indiana, and with offices around the state, interLink announced that its Kentucky-based company, interCare, is offering case management, positive behavior supports, community guide and person-centered coaching services to individuals with developmental disabilities participating in Kentucky's Supports for Community Living and Michelle P. Waiver programs.

"We have many exciting plans for advancing future services and have hit the ground, running," said Jim Dashiell, interCare's director of quality assurance. "We are pursuing new and better ways of providing quality services and fostering team collaboration with other service providers. Together, we look forward to making a difference in the lives of individuals in the 'unbridled state.' "

InterLink links different areas of expertise such as information technology, design, executive leadership, strategic planning, quality oversight and professional services to formulate solutions for people who receive services in the human services field.

"Armed with such a unique perspective, the organization discerns what is working well, and what can be done better to make a difference in people's lives," said Angela Metzger, interLink's director of business development.

"InterLink connects our collective ideas, inspiration and knowledge together to develop new and better ways of supporting people as they obtain the services they need to stay healthy and safe, and achieve their hopes and dreams for a bright future. We believe all individuals deserve access to superior, forward-thinking services. People are our focus."

"We have conducted thousands of quality assessments and detailed evaluations on agencies who provide important services to people with disabilities," Dashiell said.  "Furthermore, we have been directly involved in developing and analyzing over 80,000 person-centered plans for people with developmental disabilities.  We know what works, and what doesn't."

After outgrowing its nearby previous location, interLink moved to Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana in 2013.

"We decided to stay in the region, but knew we needed a fresh space where new ideas would take flight," Metzger said. "The environment at the Purdue Technology Center was ideal for interLink, as it is a location where other companies are birthing new, tech-savvy solutions across a wide variety of industries. This location offers a primary hub for communication across teams. We consider it a nexus of operations."
