Appointments, honors and activities
• Appointments and promotions:
- The Krannert School of Management has named Candice Lange director of the Jane Brock-Wilson Center for Women in Management. Lange is president of Lange Advisors, Inc., a leadership development firm in Indianapolis. She previously led strategies for work-life integration, diversity and employment branding for Eli Lilly and Co. Lange is a Purdue graduate with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. She holds an MBA from Indiana University. She will start as the center's director on July 1.
• Faculty and staff honors:
- Yujia Song, a visiting assistant professor in philosophy who specializes in moral philosophy, has been accepted to the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute in "Moral Psychology and Education: Putting the Humanities to Work." The four-week program will be held at Grand Valley State University. Song is one of 25 scholars selected from a national applicant pool to attend this seminar.
• Student honors:
- Samantha Dauby, an accounting major in Krannert School of Management, has been awarded a $10,000 merit scholarship by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. The scholarship program, created by Congress in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, encourages students to pursue an auditing career. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act requires that monetary penalties imposed by the PCAOB in its disciplinary proceedings be used to fund a merit scholarship program for students in accredited accounting degree programs. Dauby, from Carmel, is president of the Purdue Accounting Association, a student orientation leader with Boiler Gold Rush and a mentor in the Krannert Mentor Program.
