Purdue to launch study of campus dining resources

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University Dining & Catering, Student Life and Procurement Services, along with external consultant Envision Strategies, have partnered to conduct a comprehensive study of dining services on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus.

This study will review the current and future demand for dining services and examine facilities, services and user experience in campus dining, which includes residential dining courts and on-campus restaurants, cafes and markets offered through Purdue Dining & Catering.

"Our goal with this study is to make sure we continue to meet our students' needs as well as align more fully with Purdue Moves initiatives related to affordability and on-campus living and learning,” said Beth McCuskey, vice provost for student life. "Purdue Dining & Catering already has built a strong foundation in these areas. Looking to the future as our campus continues to evolve and grow, we need to make sure we're prepared to deliver that same level of excellence."

The study will be conducted during the spring semester through site visits, data analysis, and staff and user feedback. A website, www.purdue.edu/diningstudy, will keep the campus community informed about the project’s progress. Faculty, staff and students can submit questions and comments about the project to diningstudy@purdue.edu.

"We also will be gathering feedback through a variety of channels, including surveys, focus groups and regular meetings with various constituent groups across campus," McCuskey said.

Student Life and Procurement Services will work directly with the consulting team on the study.

The study team is expected to provide its assessment to Purdue by May 15, after which the university will determine the scope of any changes or steps moving forward.
