Purdue University named a bronze ‘Bicycle Friendly University’ by League of American Bicyclists

West Lafayette, Ind. - The League of American Bicyclists on Thursday (Nov. 5) recognized Purdue University with a bronze level Bicycle Friendly University award.

More than 127 colleges and universities have been recognized with the awards, and the following categories, designated as the Five E’s by the League of American Bicyclists, were used to evaluate each entity:

* Engineering

* Education

* Encouragement

* Enforcement

* Evaluation and Planning

“In its fourth year, we’ve seen the Bicycle Friendly University program reach an exciting level of growth and momentum, as more and more campuses support bicycling in new and innovative ways,” said Amelia Neptune, the League’s Bicycle Friendly University program manager.

“Purdue University is proud of our new Bicycle Friendly University designation,” said Michael Gulich, Purdue University director of sustainability. “Additional bicycling resources and infrastructure have been added in the past few years, and we look forward to continuing to enhance these amenities.”
