Purduettes will perform free concert at Slayter Center

September 4, 2015

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In the mood for a concert while you picnic on the lawn? Then come out for Picnic with the Purduettes and join the group for its first concert of the year!

Pack a picnic dinner and enjoy this free concert with the Purduettes on Sunday (Sept. 13). The event will begin at 6 p.m., at Slayter Center, at the corner of Stadium Avenue and Martin Jischke Drive.

The all-women’s ensemble, part of Purdue Musical Organizations, performs a variety of musical styles, from pop to vocal standards, and from classic choral pieces to contemporary hits.

“We have a remarkably talented group of young women in Purduettes this year,” said Jeff Vallier, director of the Purduettes. “They bring so much energy and enthusiasm to every song they perform, and their musicianship is quite impressive.”

The Purduettes perform at various events throughout the year, including Purdue’s President’s Council. This year, the Purduettes also will embark on a performance tour through Costa Rica over spring break.

No tickets are required for this performance. In case of inclement weather, please check the PMO Website, www.purdue.edu/pmo

Nearly 300 students perform with PMO annually. Purdue has no school of music, so nearly every academic major is represented in the organization.
