Purdue Bands and Orchestras partner, perform with high school bands and orchestras

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Three Purdue Bands and Orchestras ensembles will present joint concerts later this month with local high school bands as a part of the Partners in Music Education Program.

Partner schools are selected through an application process, after which the athletic pep bands, concert bands and orchestras engage with Purdue Bands and Orchestras throughout the year in clinics and performances.

The performances are as follows at this year's participating high schools:

* April 28. 7:30 p.m. EST. Zionsville High School, 1000 Mulberry St, Zionsville. Purdue Symphonic Band will perform with the Zionsville High School concert bands.

* April 29. 7 p.m. CST. Lake Central High School, 8400 Wicker Ave., St. John. Purdue Wind Ensemble will perform with the Lake Central High School Wind Ensemble.

* April 30. 7:30 p.m. EST. Brownsburg High School, 1000 S. Odell St., Brownsburg. Purdue Concert Band will perform with the Brownsburg High School Wind Ensemble.

The Roy Johnson Partners in Music Education Program was established in fall 1999 by Purdue University Bands and Orchestras to support instrumental music programs in Indiana high schools and to inspire high school students to pursue music as a lifelong passion. Since 1999, over 30 high schools have partnered with Purdue Bands and Orchestras. Next year, the partner schools include Elkhart Central High School, Lewis Cass High School and Logansport High School.
