Purdue announcement scheduled for new venture in downtown Indianapolis

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - On Thursday (June 18) Purdue University will host a news conference to announce the Purdue Polytechnic Indianapolis High School. With partners from the city of Indianapolis, USA Funds and EmployIndy, the school is being designed for inner-city students to succeed in STEM areas throughout a high school education and beyond.

Media are also welcome to attend Celebrating the Transformation of Education through Public Policy, a panel discussion and reception hosted by The Mind Trust starting at 7 p.m. on June 18 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. The panel will feature Purdue President Mitch Daniels and former Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson and will be moderated by Kevin Chavous, an Indianapolis native who went on to serve on the Washington, D.C., City Council and as its Education Committee chairman.
