Tony Award-winning 'Peter and the Starcatcher' at Purdue April 9

March 18, 2015

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.— "Peter and the Starcatcher," the five-time Tony Award-winning musical, will be performed at 7 p.m. April 9 at Purdue University's Elliott Hall of Music. This performance is presented by Purdue Convocations with Friends Support from Regions and Nancy DiMartino and Stephen Borghi.

Ticket holders are invited to attend a preshow discussion at 6 p.m. in the Richard and Patricia Lawson Computer Science Building, Room 1142. Jill May, professor emerita of literacy and language in Purdue's Department of Curriculum and Instruction, will discuss the history of Peter Pan.

"Peter and the Starcatcher," the prequel to "Peter Pan," is the comedy based on the best-selling novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. A company of a dozen actors play more than 100 characters, all on a journey to answer the century-old question: How did Peter Pan become "The Boy Who Never Grew Up?"

The musical won five 2012 Tony Awards, the most of any play of the 2011-2012 season, and was named one of the top 10 shows of the year by the New York Times, New York Magazine and New Yorker.

"Peter and the Starcatcher" is suitable for younger audiences but most enjoyable for those 10 and up.

Tickets are $22-$52 for adults and $22-$39 for those 18 and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. Tickets are available at the Stewart Center box office at 765-494-3933 or 800-914-SHOW. Group discounts are also available to groups of 10 more.
