Sheep shearing workshop to be offered Dec. 6

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana Sheep Association is sponsoring a workshop to teach sheep producers how to efficiently shear their animals Dec. 6.

The annual Sheep Shearing School will be at the Purdue University sheep barn on the site of the Purdue Animal Sciences Research and Education Center, 5675 W. 600 N, West Lafayette. The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. EST.

Shearing instructors will be professional shearers Matt and Steve Kennedy. The program is suitable for both beginner and advanced shearers. Equipment will be provided to practice shearing techniques, although participants can bring their own clippers and other equipment if they choose.

The shearing school is limited to 20 people. The cost is $50 per person, and registration is required by Dec. 1. To register, those interested must send a check, payable to the Indiana Sheep Association, to Harshbarger Sharpening, 2005 E. 200 N, Center Point, IN 47840.
