Media opportunities during Purdue astronaut reunion

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University will host several of its astronaut alumni for a reunion that will culminate with a public forum on Saturday (April 12). Astronauts will visit with local K-12 students, Purdue students, and alumni and friends from Thursday (April 10) through Saturday.

Here is a list of activities that might be of interest to reporters:

Thursday (April 10): Astronauts will visit area schools. Among the schools:

* Happy Hollow Elementary (grades 4-6). 1:30-2:30 p.m. Astronaut Drew Feustel and Indira Feustel, and astronaut Scott Tingle and Raynette Tingle.

* Cumberland Elementary (grades K-3). 1-3 p.m. Astronauts Loren Shriver and Charlie Walker.

* Harrison High School (grades 9-12). 1-2:30 p.m. Astronaut David Wolf.

* Burnett Creek Elementary School (K-5). 1:30-3:30 p.m. Astronaut Mark Brown.

Thursday (April 10): Astronauts will be guests at an invitation-only reception from 5-6 p.m. on Keady Court in Mackey Arena. Attendees will visit with astronauts before a 5:30 p.m. program, during which Gene Cernan will be recognized for his gift to Purdue of lunar maps from his trips to the moon. Media can park in P Lot. Saturday (April 12): The astronauts will be introduced during halftime of the spring football scrimmage. The scrimmage is from 1-3:30 p.m. in Ross-Ade Stadium. Media should contact Matt Rector, rector@purdue.edu, for credentials to the spring game.

Saturday (April 12): A public forum: A Conversation with our Astronauts. The forum will be from 7-8:30 p.m. in Elliott Hall of Music. President Mitch Daniels will be the moderator. A mult-box will be provided for audio. Tripods will not be allowed, but single-stick stands are permitted.
